A striking perennial that is both a great bedding plant and useful medicinally.  A tough creeping and low growing plant that will grow in any well drained soil and is drought tolerant once established. Puts up spikes of beautiful bright blue flowers. Considered one of the 50 fundamental herbs of Traditional Chinese Medicine, using both the roots (which can be harvested from the third year on) and the leaves. Used to treat gastro-intestinal issues, and as an antibacterial.
